Terms And Conditions
You agree to the following Mid Island Elder College Terms and Conditions when you register for a course or purchase a membership. Please familiarize yourself with them, and contact us if you have any questions or concerns BEFORE purchasing membership or registering in a course or event:
As an Mid Island Elder College member, you are responsible for reading all course descriptions & ensuring you meet all prerequisites listed, including any physical abilities described.
Members are responsible for thoroughly checking the course schedule against their own personal schedule of availability to avoid ‘double-booking’ into more than one class scheduled at the same day and time.
Members are required to remember an account password when registering. If you forget your password, please follow the directions to RESET it, which are found on the amilia.com account login page.
Know Before You Go! Inclement Weather: Members are responsible for checking the following: eldercollege.org website, the MIEC Facebook page, or your email for class cancellations due to weather.
A full refund of tuition fees will be issued if a student withdraws from a course before 5 pm on the day of the first class (except in the case of a one-day course, when a refund will be issued only if the withdrawal is requested before 5 pm of the previous day). Thereafter no refund will be issued in normal circumstances. However, at the discretion of the Program Committee a refund may be allowed on compassionate grounds. To withdraw from a course and/or request a refund please email info@eldercollege.org with full details.
Mid Island Elder College cannot refund prepaid expenses such as event admission fees or costs of course textbooks, art supplies, cooking ingredients etc. included with the course fees.
If Mid Island Elder College cancels a course prior to the session start date, you will receive a full refund of course fees.
**Membership Fees Are Non-Refundable**
Members agree to:
Participate in classroom activities such as attendance-taking
Provide emergency contact information during registration
Read & sign waiver forms where required
Waitlists are automatically created once a course is full. Our registration system Amilia will email you if a seat becomes available. Once you are notified, please accept the available seat within 24 hours: otherwise the next member on the waitlist will be offered the seat.
Photographs are sometimes taken by Mid Island Elder College’s personnel during classes and lectures. We may use such photos on our Facebook page, website and in other promotional materials. Students who do not wish to be photographed can request this with the photographer. Otherwise, you consent to MIEC’s use for publicity purposes, without personal identifying information, of any photos containing your image.
Membership Cards are issued only by Amilia and in electronic form. Members can access their membership card from within their online Amilia account.

Privacy: All Mid Island Elder College activities are carried out in accordance with the BC Personal Information Protection Act [SBC 2003] CHAPTER 63.
