The second presenter in this Saturday Speaker Spring Series, Dr. Elliott Marchant, is a professor in the Department of Psychology at Vancouver Island University (VIU). His research focuses on biological rhythms, sleep, and the social determinants of addiction, exploring their impact on psychological well-being. Dr. Marchant coordinates the Addiction Studies Certificate and oversees the Bachelor of Science Major in Psychology at VIU. His work, often involving his students, examines the complex interplay between biology, environment, and human behaviour. He is currently investigating how sleep and social isolation influence the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.
